Foreign Minister Winston Peters Accuses Fran O'Sullivan Of Treason –Departs For CHOGM
[1] In a speech yesterday at his Party's annual conference Foreign Minister Winston Peters accused the New Zealand Herald of Treason. This morning he repeated the allegations on National Radio's Morning report adding that the alleged treasonous conduct had been by a "Herald columnist". It is clear the columnist in question is Fran O'Sullivan. See… Winston Peters Accuses Fran O'Sullivan Of Treason [2] MORE:

New
Zealand Schmoozes IRB, Wins 2011 Rugby World Cup
Bid
[1]
New Zealand has successfully won the bid to host the 2011
Rugby World Cup. New Zealand's chance came when South
Africa, tipped to be a strong second runner to Japan, was
voted out in the first round. New Zealand came from behind
as the outside chance, but managed to sway International
Rugby Board heads with a heavyweight lobby team including:
Prime Minister Helen Clark, All Black great Colin (Pine
Tree) Meads, All Black captain Tana Umaga. See... NZ

PM
Unveils KayForce Memorial in Busan
- The Memorial
bears forty-five cuts, each representing the loss of a New
Zealand life. Its design recalls the moko of a Maori woman,
evoking the suffering of women whose loved ones are killed
in war, and representing New Zealand as the mother of all
who left the safety of home to fight here. Our servicemen
faced many challenges in Korea. They arrived in a very cold
winter and had inadequate facilities, insufficient water,
and poor-quality equipment and vehicles. But after that
initial shock to morale, in true New Zealand style they got
on with the job, and went on to play a much-praised role in
stemming the Chinese advance of April 1951. See... PM

Workers Charter Meetings For Wellington and Palmerston
North
- The first campaign meetings to promote the Workers Charter are being held this coming weekend in Wellington and Palmerston North. Well known social justice campaigner and community activist John Minto will address both meetings. The campaign for a Workers Charter was launched at a national conference held in Auckland on Labour weekend. This weekend’s meetings represent the first opportunity for people in Wellington and Palmerston North to become familiar with the charter and its vision for a transformed New Zealand. See... Russell Brown & More Are There!
I've been a little surprised that no one today appears to have noted that when we host Rugby World Cup 2011, it will (failing some sort of coalition collapse) also be an election year. And that if the tournament dates are similar to those in Australia 2003 (where the final was held on November 22) both the campaign and polling day itself will fall in the midst of the whole extravaganza. That will be interesting. See... Public Address 17-18/11/05 - Rugby Will Be Winner [1]
