Kamala Sarup: Peace Only Peace Concern

When many people cautious and hopeful for peace people sounds highly optimistic that the peace that will ensue. An atmosphere should be created whereby the people can live peacefully. We have to be been able to develop peaceful culture. Peaceful culture is the dire need of the hour. Those persons who are conscious of peacefu rights of the people do not adhere to peaceful norms and ideals. People always belief the mirage of peace among the people, thus creating solidarity for the much needed peace.

Peaceful co existence are the eye-openers of the common mass. Their mass meetings, publications and canvassings are the chief and only ways of making the general people aware of their peaceful rights. The people must not forget their petty interests and think in terms of peaceful unity. When people are struggling against violent forces, people have to put up their combined fight and struggle to reinstate peace. People have to keep aside their recriminatory dealings. In the same way, when today we are face to face with violence, bitter misunderstanding and mistrust again, people must come together in a friendly manner to forge unity and score victory over situations of fear, despotism and disintegration. People know the peace is a big achievements of the people.

People should take an appreciative first step toward the path of developing mutual peace. Peace give and take with an open mind to leave out something, even if very dear, and formulate an atmosphere of compromise suitable in a pluralistic society like our world will be the only answer to break the present impasse. In a modern world heading with a break neck speed toward a global village concept, we cannot shut our eyes to the events elsewhere. Barriers are crumbling down and all kinds of people everywhere are coming closer together. For this very reason, peaceful solutions is the most fitting solution.

There exist a lot of conflicting views within our different political ideologies and concepts, but they can be sorted out by sitting together for negotiations.

No nation makes any headway if the extreme leftist or rightist views predominate, as they blindly resort to their own die-hard analyses. The silent majority must never be forgotten. Although the majority does not voice its feelings directly, it is, nevertheless, the most powerful force in any nation. Their only desire is peace, progress and prosperity.

We have a deep desire that a true and lasting peace will be achieved, for we know not only the two fighting adversaries, but all the neutral innocent people want the nation to be free, prosperous and happy. And to be truly free and really prosperous and happy, we require an open democratic atmosphere of mutual understanding, toleration and cooperation. We must have peace to achieve this kind of democratic goal in which every individual and group has an equal opportunity of participation in the administration.

People want peace in the country. People want to openly discuss their concepts and ideology and participate in popular peace activities. It is good to be able to do so without taking recourse to violent means. Peaceful means are more convincing to the people, stronger and ever lasting. They have got this opportunity, which, I feel, they will not let go in the heat of their ideological sentiment. Armed struggle or the use of arms can succeed anywhere in the world, if it is launched under an able commander. History has an ample proof of it. But it is not a question of overthrowing a regime or conquering a country. The main issue is the achievement of peace, security, progress and prosperity for our nation. Our main objective is and should be a free and fearless life for us all.

To promote a permanent peace and respect for diversity through citizen participation in programs that develop a consensus around peace issues. To contribute to the definition of a permanent national peace policy through action, ideas and research aimed at the construction of a society based on policies of social justice and sustainable, humane development.

People continue to believe that a negotiated settlement, represents the only realistic solution to the conflict.
