Iran: Hundreds arrested as persecution of trade unionists escalates

    - Iranian authorities have again targeted trade unionists at Sherkate Vahed, Teheran's bus company, in the latest wave of brutal repression. The ICFTU, in a letter to the country's authorities, strongly condemned the new arrests of several hundred trade unionists and their families, including eight executive members of the Sherkate Vahed union. The union's leader, Mansour Osanloo, has been in prison since 22 December. See... Iran: Hundreds arrested as persecution of trade unionists escalates [1] ALSO:

Video: Bush Delivers State Of The Nation Warning To Foreign Opposition

    - "Abroad, our nation is committed to an historic, long-term goal -- we seek the end of tyranny in our world. Some dismiss that goal as misguided idealism… Dictatorships shelter terrorists, and feed resentment and radicalism, and seek weapons of mass destruction. Democracies replace resentment with hope, respect the rights of their citizens and their neighbors, and join the fight against terror. Every step toward freedom in the world makes our country safer -- so we will act boldly in freedom's cause." See... Video: Bush Delivers State of the Union Address [1] ALSO:

Che Tibby Gets Distracted from Treaty Issues

    - Have pretty much just gotten home from a very interesting 'debate' at Te Papa. The topic was the Treaty of Waitangi, and as I'm sure you'll be aware it's something I think we should all take a positive interest in... Actually, walking home barely topped the experience of listening to Geoffrey Palmer and Joe Williams Talk about their respective vision of our social futures. I should mention that it wasn't actually a debate as such, but more of an exposition of ideas. So why did the walk home top the debate? See... Public Address 03/02/06 - Conquering dictatorship [1]
