Crime: Horrific Murder Will Have Left Horrific Crime Scene - Police
[1] "Somewhere in this city is a murder scene that will be
filled with blood," was the hypothesis Detective Inspector
Harry Quinn, Wellington Crime Services Manager put to media
at a press conference today in relation to what Inspector
Quinn called a "brutal and bizarre homicide." The as yet
unidentified man found at Owhiro Bay on Wellington's south
coast yesterday was subjected to a severe beating about the
head, had his neck partially severed and his hands cut off.

Justice: SIS Failure To Disclose Causes Zaoui Hearing
Cancellation
- Lawyers acting for Ahmed Zaoui
today issued a public statement to clarify that the
abandonment by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and
Security of the hearing of the review of the security risk
certificate issued against Mr Zaoui, which had been due to
start on 7 August 2006, has not occurred by reason of any
delays or default of Mr Zaoui or his counsel. Mr Zaoui's
lawyers say SIS delays caused the hearings to be abandoned:
"The primary reason for the hearing being delayed is the
incompetence of the Director of Security, in failing to
provide information to the Inspector-General, promptly and
completely." See... Ahmed

SCOOP COLUMNS
------------
Stateside: Rosalea Barker On The Berkeley Cohousing Project
- Saturday, I was standing under a Norfolk pine in northern California reading about a housing development in Ranui, New Zealand. I was on a bus tour of six cohousing communities in the East Bay, and the book was one of many that had been put out for our perusal during our stop at the Berkeley Cohousing project. See... - Well, the time had come. Sons number one and two established at the local primary school, the tiny terror dispatched to wreak his havoc at the kindergarten three afternoons per week. Latin American Coup: Greg Palast On The Theft Of
Mexican Democracy
- July 7, 2006 -- And the
winner in Mexico's presidential contest is - Senor Blank-o!
The official count of the ruling party is: 36.38% for the
ruling party and 35.34% for the challenger. Or, to put names
and numbers to it: The Bush-o-philiac candidate, Felipe
Calderon, collected 402,000 more votes than Bush-bashed
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. But the big winner was Mr.
Blank -- the 827,000 ballots without a mark for president.

Gaza: The Seige Of Gaza Continues &
Intensifies
- This year the 9th of July is a
bitter day for Palestinians. The Occupation Army besieges
Gaza, massacres its people and attacks its infrastructure.
The ghettos of the West Bank take shape as the Apartheid
Wall edges closer to completion and the Palestinian exodus
from Jerusalem has begun. Over 9000 Palestinians sit in
Israeli prison cells whilst Palestinians who remain on their
1948 lands do so under the subjugation of the most vicious
and discriminatory Apartheid system. See... Global
