NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark In The Beehive Theatrette
Prime Minister Helen Clark held her post cabinet press conference a little earlier than usual today in advance of a plane journey out of the capital.
During the readout the main news from today's cabinet session appears to involve changes to who gets to be called "The Honourable" (See Press Release) plus a minor change to the oath of office of the Governor General who will henceforth swear to serve the Queen "faithfully and impartially" rather than "duly and impartially".
The question and answer session began with a series of questions on the Middle East crisis and also covered Winston Peter's trip to Washington to meet with Condoleezza Rice, the further delay of the Zaoui Case and local authority rate increases.
The PM said that she has now received a copy of the Noel Ingram QC inquiry report into the conduct of Labour MP & Associate Justice Minister Taito Philip Field. She said she will be discussing it with the MP tomorrow. It appears likely an announcement will be made after this meeting as to the contents of the report.
