Politics: Brash Wants Cops To Explain Why Labour Not Prosecuted

National Leader Don Brash has sought an explanation from the police about what his calls: "the glaring inadequacies in their inquiry into the Labour Party’s spending on its pledge card and brochure".     Foreign Affairs: NZ Sends Fresh Squad Of Bobbies To Timor

    The second contingent of New Zealand Police will be leaving for Timor-Leste next week to be deployed under the umbrella of UNMIT, the United Nations mission. Contingent commander Assistant Commissioner Graeme Cairns said the 25 member team will be working alongside other international police under a UN Police Commissioner. New Zealand Police staff will be focusing on maintaining law and order, and where possible, community policing including providing reassurance to local residents. See... New Police Team to Timor [1]

    Text & Audio: Govt Plans Changes To Frequency Allocation Plans

    The Government has announced it will provide for up to four new FM radio stations in each region of NZ, and strengthen the role of local broadcasters. It plans to auction commercial frequencies with conditions yet to be finalised. Communications Minister, David Cunliffe, talks to KiwiFM's Wammo about small stations on low power frequencies or stations that have out grown their position or license moving to either the new commercial or non-commercial frequencies. A student station like bFM could be an example of this. Russell Brown is also IVed on the issue.

    Foreign Affairs: Peters Call North Korea Nuclear Threat "Intolerable"

    North Korea's statement that it is planning to test a nuclear weapon is inflammatory and completely incompatible with efforts to build security in the Asia-Pacific region, Foreign Minister Winston Peters said today. North Korea last night announced plans for a nuclear weapon test, although it gave no time frame.     Health News: State Invests In Operating Theatre Contruction Project

    The Labour-led government's historic investment in public hospitals will see an extra 22 operating theatres open over the next four years, Health Minister Pete Hodgson announced today. The construction of new theatres will coincide with a number of projects to upgrade existing theatres as part of the government's four-year $630 million capital investment in health.
