UK based public service management expert David Coats – from The Work Foundation - is in New Zealand for a little over two weeks as a guest of the Department of Labour (DOL) and the Public Service Association (PSA) to discuss his views on how to improve the public service.
Scoop caught up with him at the PSA offices in Wellington this morning for a wide ranging interview on what is wrong and right with public service management and communication with the public.

Tomorrow Mr Coats is presenting his paper "Reviving the Public: A New Governance and Management Model for Public Services " at Victoria University's Rutherford House. (Download Full Report From PSA.org.nz - Msoft Word .Doc Format – 71pages – 573kb)
Next week he will be presenting at public meetings hosted by the DOL and PSA in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland.
