Scoop Audio: Govt Gives Public More
Daylight
Today's post-cabinet press conference was graced by the presence of Internal Affairs Minister Rick Barker. Mr Barker popped in to give the assembled media the good news that Clocks will go forward an hour a week earlier than usual - on the last Sunday in September- and back an hour on the first Sunday in April, instead of the third Sunday in March. This move gives the public three weeks more daylight saving from 30 September.
Following this good news for Seasonally Affected Disorder sufferers the Prime Minister took questions from the media – dealing firstly with monetary policy and then moving onto doodles of the Beehive signed by one Helen Clark (all dealt with five years ago evidently).
The Prime Minister also took some time to explain the intricacies of MMP and how, in her opinion, just because some parties which normally support the Government decide they hate a Bill - such as say The Births Deaths and Marriage Bill - then that does not mean the Government has (as yet) suffered a huge defeat.
