1220 – Lisa Beech, spokesperson for Caritas, the Catholic agency for justice, peace and development
Debate begins again in earnest today on amending section 59 of the Crimes act, you all know the one. It looks increasingly likely that the amendment will itself be amended to reassure parents they won't face criminalisation for minor offences. But will this make people happy? A number of church groups will be at Parliament today also, lending their voices for and against the bill. I'll be speaking with Lisa Beech from one such group, Caritas - the Catholic agency for justice, peace and development, about their stance and why all the Christian groups can't find a common voice.
1240 – Jim Blackman, Chair of the Regional TV Broadcasters Assoc.
Today is also the launch of Freeview – the digital television platform that the government wants us all to get with. This morning I spoke with Jim Blackman who's the Chair of the Regional TV Broadcasters Assoc. as well as CEO of Triangle TV, about the launch and what it will mean for smaller regional broadcasters.
1300 – Andrew Dubber, degree leader
for Music Industries at UCE Birmingham
Staying with media, at one o'clock I'll be playing an interview I did with Andrew Dubber about what's going on with internet Radio. You might be listening via the net now! Hello! But don;t get too comfy, May 15 might well be the day the music dies. The Copyright Royalty board in America wants to change the rates that web-radio pays from a percentage of revenue, to a per-song, per-listener fee. This would effectively hike the rates by as much as 1000%, and could as many are warning, have us all singing bye bye Miss American internet radio pie. Andrew knows far too much about all this stuff, and he told me how this might affect web-radio worldwide.
1315 – David Do, Education Vice-President of AUSA
David Do, Education Vice President of AUSA will be in the studio at one fifteen to make sense of the changes Michael Cullen has proposed for tertiary funding.
1330 – Kevin List
live from the Section 59 rallies in Wellington
At half
past one I'll be speaking to Kevin List from scoop.co.nz,
who's live at Parliament watching the religious groups give
the smack down to Sue Bradford's Bill.
1345 – Ben
Cooke, professional Stuntman
And to finish the show,
at quarter to 2, I'll be playing an interview I did this
morning with Ben Cooke. He's a professional stuntman who's
been nominated for 2. very prestigious Taurus World Stunt
awards. The Oscars of the stunt world I'm told. He's stunted
everyone from Darth Vader to James Bond, and he shared some
of his awesomeness with me.
