The protest had been organised by a group calling themselves Family Values which seemed to include a large Destiny Church presence. The biggest cheers of the day were certainly reserved for the Destiny Church's one and only Bishop Brian Tamaki.

Ostensibly the protest had been called to fight any changes that could have seen the devil allowed to remain inside a child due to legislation that would affect the way parents chastise their offspring.

Thankfully for the protestors an amendment had been agreed upon by the two main political parties to Green MP Sue Bradford's S59 repeal Bill that would allow any evil spirits residing within recalcitrant children to be manually excised without the intervention of the Police.

The potential solving of the problem the Family Values protestors had arrived at Parliament to protest led to a generally positive mood and easygoing atmosphere.

The easygoing atmosphere and general tone of hands in the air pray-fulness was briefly interrupted when Maori Affairs Minister Parekura Horomia turned up. After a quick hongi with Bishop Tamaki Horomia riled up sections of the crowd with his passionate support for Bradford's (now amended ) Bill. Many in the audience seemed to think that regardless of Ms Bradford's Bill the rod should certainly not be spared when it came to Parekura Horomia's posterior.
