Fashion: Serdoun's Second Year Showing A Success

Fashionz.co.nz: Serdoun's Fashion Week Second Year Showing A Success

Serdoun's second year showing at ANZFW proved a success, with Designer Alissa Serdoun’s very wearable range of garments and their hint of vintage style. The Winter ‘08 collection is inspired by Sophia Loren in the filmYesterday, Today and Tomorrow. On a whole, the collection is undoubtedly feminine, colourful and elegant.

First up was a leather biker jacket with a large collar and off-centre metal zip fastening at the front, matched with skinny pants and a loose top. We were then introduced to knitwear with an interesting twist neck top with extra long sleeves. I was impressed with Alissa's refreshingly experimental take on knitwear in terms of tailoring and shapes. A ruched grey marle cardigan with two-button closure and ribbing around the neck, cuffs and bottom edge was a standout.

Sweet dresses were then introduced - a black-on-black smock with pleat detailing across the chest and pin tucking along the bottom was a favourite, while a black and red ink blot dress was reminiscent of the brush stroked silk frocks from Cybèle's latest collection!

The colour palette consisted of concrete greys, inky blues, ruby red, emerald green and a splash of and canary yellow – this worked best on a youthful cascade dress with pleating on the bodice and a cute bow at the waist.

Russian-born Alissa wants women to feel comfortable in what they are wearing – regardless of age or body type - which her "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" collection captured. Pants ranged from the skinniest stovepipes to relaxed wider leg styles, and skirts came in pencil and paperbag shapes.

There is something for everyone in this range!
