Fashion: Sakaguchi Presents A Beautiful Collection
Fashion Week: Sakaguchi Presents A Beautiful Collection
This was a beautiful collection. At first it seemed more conservative than I had expected, but by the end I realised that this was a range full of quiet, secret treasures that you would be able to pull out of your wardrobe time after time.
Very prettily made up doe skinned models wore quite bushy brows and blossom pink lips, perfectly complementing the earthy tones of the collection.
There were many Japanese influences of course, for example a short front/long back on a tailored coat, an obi forming the kneelength front of an otherwise full length gown.
A stripe knit caught the eye of more than one front rower – delightfully ruched up on tie in front and back, with the same treatment later used in a textured jacket.
Sakaguchi has an innovative way with prints, both in selection and use. Most were earthy both in colour and mood and would never become tiresome as do more coloured, higher energy designs.
The show aimed to offer local women “clothing to match their way of life” and well achieved this and more - the addition thanks to Takaaki’s fine Japanese vision
Julie Roulston .
