1220 – Professor Warrick Tie

Unless you've been living under a rock these past few days, you'd have heard about all the terror. We've seen lots of arrests, many leftist noses out of joint, and a large chunk of Maori feeling vicitmised. Today though, I'll be taking a little bit of a different angle on the whole thing, talking with Professor Warrick Tie from Massey University. He says the events of the past few days signal a drastic and worrying departure from how police have previously operated, ushering in an era of political, and military style policing. He says it's high time we debated this shift, so at 1220 debate we shall!

1240 – Richard Lewis, Destiny Church and "Family Party" leader

At 1240 I'll be joined on the line by one of the Destiny church head honchos, and leader of the newly announced "Family Party", Richard Lewis. He says the new party will be a broad-based Christian party with its sights set firmly on South Auckland. But what about the Brian Tamaki-like elephant in the room?

1300 – Lisa Blaker, Nurse and author of "Heart of Darfur"

At one I'm very lucky to be speaking with a woman named Lisa Blaker. She's a nurse who's just published an autobiography called "Heart of Darfur" that details her experiences working in conflict zones. She says Darfur broke her heart and drained her soul, and that her experiences there and in other war zones like Basra, Iraq have made it near impossible to settle back into life in New Zealand. And if her 10 minutes on the Wire aren't enough for you, she'll also be doing a number of speaking engagements in bookshops and libraries in the coming weeks.

(25th at North Shore Library, 18 th at Howick Library)

1320 – Selwyn Manning live from the Pacific Islands Forum

The wonderfully erudite Selwyn Manning from scoop will be joining me at twenty past one for another live update from The Pacific Islands Forum in Tonga.

1340 – Book She Read with Sally

And to finish the show at twenty to two, Sally will be back in the studio for another installment of Book She Read, our new bi/tri-weekly book feature on the Wire. We'll be poring over the announcement of the Booker Prize and having a look at a lovely wee collection of short stories from Miranda July called No One Belongs Here More Than You.

Aucklanders can tune in at 95
on the
FM dial.
