5th So-called "Terrorist" Granted Bail
By Alastair Thompson
Activist Marama Mayrick was today granted bail in the Rotorua District Court and had her name suppression lifted.
Mayrick's lawyer opposed transfer of her case to Auckland but has had it transferred anyway and will reappear with most of her fellow accused on Thursday and Friday this week in Auckland District Court.
Mayrick like the rest of her fellow accused faces charges under the Arms Act of possession of illegal firearms.
In Auckland fellow accused Omar Hamed is expected to make a bail application today however it is not known whether there will be sufficient time to hear it.
Meanwhile a date has been set to hear an appeal of the decision in the Rotorua District Court to deny bail for Maori Activist Tame Iti. The appeal will be heard on November 7th.
