Five Stories High was officially launched on Monday the 2nd of July 2007 to a group of invited guests including local artists, Wellington City Council members and Saatchi & Saatchi clients.
The gallery, located on the fifth floor of the agency is somewhere for local artists to display their creations. Five Stories High run an annual programme with a collection of three exhibitions. The duration of each exhibition runs between three and four months and combines artworks from a collective of artists across a broad spectrum of mediums.
Five Stories High does not operate as a conventional gallery. The primary purpose being to support emerging Wellingtonian artists. The artists incur no commission fees and do not pay to exhibit at our gallery. For each new exhibition we host an opening evening for clients and members of the arts community.
Our current exhibition runs from March through to June 08.
‘All Things Nice’ is a celebration of all things female. Their beauty, souls, passion, bodies and strength. The exhibition explores female exquisiteness portrayed through different mediums. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
Whether it is observing Indian women at work through the lens of photographer Karim Sahai, rich colours, beaming smiles, haunting eyes. Loosing yourself inside French passion expressed on canvases by Alex Di Mercurio. Adorning our bodies in contemporary handmade jewellery from Annie Collins or admiring the naked female form from any angle of Leana Keen’s photography.
What defines beauty? ………All women do.
