Scoop Audio: Audio on Demand of
NZ Prime Minister John Key's weekly press conference. The PM
was questioned repeatedly about the recent police report
regarding the emails of ex-opposition, and ex-National Party
leader, Don Brash. The emails formed the basis for Nicky
Hager’s book The Hollow Men, which contributed to the
demise of Brash, and consequently the rise of Key. The
police report failed to explain how the emails found their
way out.
It was put to the Prime minister that one of his
inner circle was responsible for the leak. He said he had
queried possible culprits and they had denied it.
Key also
defended Christine Rankin, saying her experience as an
advocate against child abuse qualified her for a role in the
families commission, and issues regarding personal life were
not related, and not relevant.
The PM also touched on
Auckland Governance, failing to fully explain why there has
been a delay in naming the transition
board.
