The Thursday Wire Hosted By Hamish Fletcher

On the show today:

At 12:05 I’ll be speaking to the Minister of Energy and Resources Gerry Brownlee about criticisms of our power industry. A review of our electricity sector that was released yesterday found that electricity prices are excessive and regulatory control may be needed. I’ll ask Mr Brownlee to go over the review in more detail, and ask his view on the state of the electricity sector, and what the Ministry is planning to do to try to cap price increases which have gone up 72% over the last 9 years.

At 12:40 I’ve got Beven Hanlon, the National President of Correction Association New Zealand, responding back to claims from Finance Minister Bill English that it is the Prison union who is blame for the limited spaces available in our nation’s jails.

At 1:00 Pennie Papercuts will be in, just like every other week, to review a magazine. Today Pennie will scrutinize the art, fashion, music mag Frankie, a sponsor of the design event Semi Permanent happening tomorrow and Saturday.

At 1:20 Peter Griffin will join me on the Wire for Dear Science, your weekly look at science technology and the internet.

Then at 1:40 I’m very privileged to be interviewing Kate Moross live in the studio. Kate is a UK based designer and artist, responsible for the ISOMORPH record label and a visiting speaker at aforementioned design event, Semi Permanent. If you’d like to know more about Kate, or to view some of her work, visit KateMoross.com

Interviews and features will be available from the bfm website following the show.

Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
