On the show today...
12.15 - John Carter, Associate Minister of
Local Government, Chair of Auckland Supercity Select
Committee
At 12.15 (fingers crossed), I'll be talking
with John Carter about the blueprint of the Auckland
Supercity, out late Friday afternoon. He chaired the Select
Committee that heard submissions about the final form the
Auckland-amalgamation would take - so how many of those were
heeded in the final product, and why are Federated Farmers
up in arms?
12.30 - Phil Twyford, Labour Auckland Affairs
Spokesperson
Phil Twyford has been an ardent critic of
the shape of the Super-City reforms thus far this year, and
he's been no less damning of the Auckland Super City
Committee's report. He already listed a few of the major
flaws on his party's official blog - so I try to get a
little more detail on his objections.
1.00 - Lyn McMoran,
Institute of Financial Advisors
It's Financial Literacy
Week in New Zealand, and a little more financial literacy
apparently couldn't come soon enough for NZ's youth - some
of which are leaving high school without even the foggiest
about GST or income tax. Lyn McMoran talks about the damning
results of the questionnaire which highlighted these gaps in
our knowledge - and what we can do to better equip teens and
young people from here.
1.20 - Jeremy Bioletti,
Lawyer
Human trafficking is alive and well in New
Zealand. That's the take of Auckland-based lawyer Jeremy
Bioletti in a story he's taken to the Dominion Post about
two Ukrainian women bought to NZ and allegedly forced to
work in the sex industry. But how widespread is the
situation, and how do these cases slip through the net in
the first place?
