Honduras has suffered a great deal of political strife over the last five months following the deposing of ex President Manuel Zelaya by the Honduran army. Following a de-facto government, Honduras has elected a new leader this week, the conservative wealthy rancher, Porfino Lobo. Despite claims that elections were fair, the American Continents remain divided in accepting Lobo as a legitimate leader. Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela all refuse to acknowledge Lobo as democratically elected; however, others such as The United States, Canada and Columbia accept his appointment as the premier position of the Honduran political system. Joining me on the Wire to discuss the elections is Marco Caceres, editor of the website Honduras This Week.

As well as this, we'll go over reports that genetic modified material has escaped from Lincoln University and Peter will also talk about the uses the rocket launched into space from Mercury Island yesterday could have for New Zealanders.
