A pragmatic, workable solution for Environment Canterbury which does not compromise local democracy is paramount, says Local Government New Zealand...It recommends a separate Canterbury Regional Water Authority established under its own Act of Parliament. As a strong proponent of public service broadcasting, I was dismayed by the decision by TVNZ’s Close Up to cancel a scheduled interview with the Prime Minister on tax reforms in favour of a tawdry scandal involving a former All-Black.
