Kiwis Have Their Say On Ultra Fast Broadband - 9
Why New Zealanders want an ultra-fast broadband network.
Every week, we will bring you a selection of comments from Vector’s fibre to the door website.
Here’s what Kiwi’s have had to say this week in support of Vector’s effort to bring fibre to the door of Aucklanders …..
I fully support it. Broadband from most providers is too slow for online gaming, downloading & uploading. Come on ozzy's broadband is fast why can't ours be the same.
MMI am sick of paying for a broadband that is 3rd world technology that is so slow and it is about time something was done about it
BM
CarpenterIt's necessary for NZ to stay at the forefront of technology to remain competitive in the world market.

Technical Sales Manager10 years too late, time someone got off their thumbs, I been in UK for the last 10 years and enjoyed cabled internet/tv services to door (10mbits), since I returned I can't believe the restrictions on speeds and data caps!!!
PEAs a software developer and website developer who works remotely from my clients networks - fibre would vastly improve my capabilities
TEBecause improved residential and business connectivity has got to be economically beneficial to NZ as a nation.

Account ManagerAdvertisement - scroll to continue readingMy consultancy business needs both to download large amounts of data (ideally 100s of GB) and to have reliable high speed connectivity with our customer sites. The business is small, lean and mean and so operates out of residential premises. Data downloads are primarily transfers within New Zealand and comprise databases that are core for business. High speed connectivity is essential for secure graphical management of remote computers and also so that database downloads can be completed before they change. It is so frustrating to suffer NZ's internet being managed by individuals who have no appreciation for the growth and scope of the internet and are stuck in an email mindset. Think instead of what the human imagination can achieve if the capability is present. Video conferencing of a quality that enables remote interactive teaching or medical assistance is just one possibility. Online movie stores and remote security monitoring also spring to mind. Cities overseas already offer 100Mbps connectivity. Anything less than a goal to get 1 Gbps to the door within a few years will condemn New Zealand to being uncompetitive. Only fibre can achieve this at present.
PBIt will bring NZ into the 21st century!
SVGWhat we have is pathetic we need to be able to get information quickly without having to wait for what seems an age for it to down load
ALIt's hard enough developing games for an international market when we are all the way down here in NZ, and sub-par internet connections only serve to further disadvantage us competitively. Fibre to the door would put us on equal footing with the international competition, allowing us to transfer data with the speed and reliability we need.

Game ProgrammerAn advanced broadband infrastructure is key to economic development and competitiveness. It will attract commercial investment to New Zealand.
EVNew Zealand's place in the world, the performance of our centres of excellence in learning, innovation and industry and the education of our citizens means being at the leading edge of technology. Fast, reliable internet is the key to communication, commerce and participation in the global community.

DirectorThe reasons are this is the 21st century and at the moment we are still at 1992 when the rest of the world have been in the 21st century for how many years and are paying less than we are for a better/faster services meaning if we change businesses will able to run more stream line and more efficient. Also there are less issues with fibre compared to copper wiring come on New Zealand lets move forward.
MCAll for keeping up with the rest of the world, come on New Zealand!

MarketingI use broadband daily for my job, including file transfers, VoIP, and working remotely. A fast connection is absolutely essential for my work, and this requires a future proof link - fibre.

Film EditorI need ultra fast broadband to support my fully paperless workflow, which has me storing and managing everything in cloud-based services.
DBI've been living in New Zealand for one year and got to the conclusion that the internet is terrible. Fibre to the door would not only make life easier but also speed up a whole lot of things for everyone. Businesses would probably be the ones that would benefit more however who enjoys spending time on the net would love the time that is saved.

The Government plans to give New Zealand a complete fibre to the door ultra-fast broadband network. Vector thinks that’s a great idea and is hoping to help them do it and Scoop.co.nz also thinks its something well worth discussing.
