Obama Accepts McChrystal's Resignation
President Obama accepted the resignation of General Stanley McChrystal, and replaced him with his boss, General David Patraeus. There is supposed to be no change in US strategy in Afghanistan, but there is growing unrest about the commitment in the US, and NATO. The US is due to have 130,000 troops in Afghanistan, but they are supposed to draw down in a year.
There is now speculation General McChrystal could leave the military and run for office The situation resulted from comments he and his top advisors made during a profile with "Rolling Stone" magazine. They were extremely insulting to President Obama, Vice President Biden, and other top advisors, and called the White House "wimps."
