At Labour leader Phil Goff's weekly press stand-up, the topics covered were:
• The Prime Minister claimed Mr Goff was "briefed" on the investigation of Israeli backpackers after the Christchurch earthquake. But at his Monday presser, Phil Goff repeatedly said SIS Director Dr Warren Tucker "flicked the issue past" him. Mr Goff feels the matter could have been raised before the parliamentary select committee. Goff, the leader of the opposition, had not dwelt on the briefing, and does not recall it.
SCOOP EDITOR'S NOTE: Following Phil Goff's press conference Scoop contacted the NZSIS asking if its director Dr Warren Tucker is intending to issue a statement on the above issue. The SIS referred Scoop back to the Prime Minister's office, and said it is assumed Dr Tucker will not be issuing a statement to media on this issue.

• Goff has conveyed his condolences over the killings in Norway, and the Prime Minister's initial suggestion that "If it is an act of global terrorism... that's why New Zealand plays its part in Afghanistan".
• He also noted the deaths of former Chief District Court Judge Russell Johnson and former Labour MP Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan.
