Julie Webb-Pullman From Gaza: Under Attack

Gaza has come under attack from Israeli forces today.

A set of pictures from the initial attack at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.324666807543630.87907.136633479680298&type=3 [Note: extremely graphic].
Reuters video: "Video footage shows the immediate aftermath of an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, in which two members of the same family were killed. Rough Cut (no reporter narration)."

Julie Webb-Pullman writes from Gaza:

There have been some retaliatory rockets fired, to which Israel has responded, firing at the Zeitoun area of Gaza. So far there have been no injuries or damage reported.

Hamas has called on Egypt and the Arab League to intervene to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza - there had been absolutely NO rocket attacks for over a month, and Israel broke the undeclared truce without any reason. Israel has claimed that the two men they murdered today were 'planning an attack' but provided no evidence whatsoever.

Given the Israeli killing yesterday of another Gazan, and IDF attacks today in Ramallah, there is a belief that Israel is attempting to provoke another intifada, on the anniversary of the first intifada on December 8 1987. Israeli drones continue to fly along the Gaza border- it will be a long night.

We are under attack in Gaza right now [9:42 NZT].

Egyptian ambassador in Ramallah says "Cairo is in continuous communication with Israel and factions in Gaza in order to restore calm following a deadly airstrike and renewed rocket fire" but rockets are still flying in retaliation for the first Israeli airstrike in a densely populated area since Cast Lead - it was in the main street at rush-hour next to a kids playground full of kids.

Israeli helicopters have also been reported in Khan Younis - not a good sign
