Great news today - we will be having electricity for eight hours on, then eight hours off!! Life will be so much better if that happens. Although it is warmer during the days now, if not actually hot, it is still freezing at night

The cars are running again, so getting around town is easier, and the construction workers are all back in force on the building sites. But many people still do not have enough fuel for their generators - I went to some friends for dinner, and it was by torchlight.

LED torchlight is NOT subtle or romantic - but it is safer than candles - there have been many burn injuries during the power-cuts from fires accidentally started by candles.....another example of 'collateral damage' I guess.

And there are definite signs of attempts to use the Israeli and Egyptian-imposed fuel shortages to whip up anti-Hamas sentiment.

For any doubters, just ask why Egypt blocked the tunnels which had been bringing in fuel for months, if not years, thus causing the crisis...
