The Ministry of Detainee Affairs, in co-operation with El Waed Association, today held a celebration to honour the children of prisoners in the Freedom Hall at Sudaniya Beach, Gaza.

Announcing the event yesterday, Mr Bahar Elmadhoun, Deputy Minister Of Detainees’ Affairs, said that organising such a celebration is a milestone in the history of the Ministry.

“Such celebrations bring some happiness and joy into the hearts of the children and relatives of the prisoners, encouraging them and acknowledging all the sacrifices they make, patiently putting up with having their sons, fathers, husbands, and brothers away from them,” he said.

At the celebration today, The Minister of Detainee Affairs Dr Atallah Abusebah told the children and other relatives, “Our enemy seeks the break the unity of our society, but here we can find the mothers of prisoners from all factions and parties. When the children see them, when the prisoners see the mothers of Hamas, Fatah they are happy because they won’t be worried about division.”

He promised that the Ministry of Detainees is the Ministry for all people and parties, not for the people of one party or another.

“We promise you that the designs of the Israeli occupation will fail, and we promise you that Allah will take care of our prisoners. We will make sure that the rights of the prisoners and the rights of their relatives are obtained,” he concluded.

The son of detainee Raed Ashur addressed the families, telling them he obtained an average of 95% in the school exams. He said that although they all felt sad that their fathers are not here with them today, they still have a moment of great happiness. He promised his father he will be a great student, and he promised the Israeli occupation that it will never break his will.

Certificates were presented to the children by the Minister of Detainee Affairs, and several dances were performed before lunch was served.
