New Zealand iPhone 6 plans compared

New Zealand prices for Apple's iPhone 6 start at $1000 for the 16GB model. Well, $999 but we're not fooled. That's $50 cheaper than the cost of the lowest price iPhone 5S when it first launched here a year ago.

A 64GB iPhone 6 costs $1150 and the 128GB model is $1300.

Not everybody wants to, or can, stump up that much straight away so carriers offer lower up-front costs to customers signing  up for a 24 month plan. Remember you are entering a fairly hefty financial commitment. The most expensive plan on this table will cost $3600 over two years. Here's a list of the publicly available plans for the iPhone 6 in New Zealand.

At the time of writing there are still shortages of some models, so you may have to wait to get the model you want.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus plan are on a separate page.

Table notes:

  • All plans in this table offer unlimited text messages, subject to fair use provisions. In practice you'll never hit those limits in normal use.

  • All plans in this table are for 24 month terms.

  • If you go over your plan data caps there are options to buy more data. They are not cheap. Both Telecom NZ and Vodafone charge 20 cents per megabyte as a casual rate when you bust your cap.

  • Unlimited voice minutes – also subject to fair use rules – can be used to call numbers in New Zealand and Australia.
