Tamihere Allegationsx2 - Deficit Worsens - St Stephens Message - Iceberg Breaks Off - Prada Goes Home - Pokeno Name Change

TAMIHERE ALLEGATIONS: John Tamihere says he will quit if three inquiries do not clear him of misusing taxpayers money when he managed the Waipareira Trust. He challenged ACT leader Richard Prebble to do so too if he was cleared. Mr Prebble was found to be wrong over allegations Mr Tamihere’s former campaign manager was involved in a fraud case.

TAMIHERE ALLEGATIONS: The man involved in a fraud case was a former gang Headhunter who was a campaign worker for John Tamihere. Mr Tamihere gave a character reference for the man in the case which did not relate to the Waipareira Trust.

DEFICIT WORSENS: New Zealanders are still not getting any better in paying its way in the world with the Current Account deficit skyrocketing to 8.2 billion dollars, a total of 8 per cent of GDP. Causes of the deficit are the price of oil, the high New Zealand dollar, and recent purchase of a new frigate for the navy. While there are good signs in the farming sector to push economic growth, in the short-term credit agencies may still down grade the country’s credit rating.

ST STEPHENS MESSAGE: The Government has delivered a tough message to Auckland’s St Stephens school after 23 students were suspended for bullying. He said the would investigate his legal right to close St Stephens if the bullying does not stop. However the school's principle, who was caught by surprise by the Minister’s visit, said she believed the St Stephens was being unfairly singled out by the Government.
