SINGAPORE AIRLINES BUYS AIR NZ - There has been a radical change Tuesday in the ownership of our national air carrier Air New Zealand. After a getting the green light from the Government, Singapore Airlines is spending $140 million to buy up to 8.3% of the company''s B shares.

ENDANGERED SPECIES: There’s a new threat to two of the worlds largest endangered species, whales and elephants. African nations have allied with Norway and Japan in voting on trading in Whales.

ZIMBABWE WHITE FLIGHT: In Zimbabwe, white farmers are taking police to court to get them to evict black militants who have taken over their farms.

TARIFF FREEZE REACTION: The coalition Government has cancelled the next round of tariff cuts and will freeze all current levels to 2005. The move has attracted criticism from the opposition and farmers. Associate Finance Minister Trevor Mallard says tariffs will not change unless there are clear benefits for the country.

GUILTY PLEA:Wanganui man has pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter following the death of a woman in the city after a police car chase. Rikki Maru, a 24-year-old unemployed man, appeared in the Wanganui District Court on Tuesday.
