WAITARA SHOOTING: The police have ended efforts to suppress the identity of the man who shot Steven Wallace. They are calling on the news media not to reveal the name of the officer. Radio New Zealand, One Network News and INL Newspapers have said they would continue not to publish the man’s name. The New Zealand Herald has not revealed what action it would take.

WAITARA SHOOTING: In an unusual move Attorney General Margaret Wilson announced the Government have the Solicitor General review the police homicide investigation into the shooting.

ANOTHER FATAL SHOOTING: The Police Complaints Authority has released its finding into another fatal police shooting in Auckland. The Authority says the officer was justified shooting when man brandished replica pistol in Henderson.

HIT AND RUN: Dunedin police are appealing for public help after the death after man’s body was found by motorists. He is believed to be the subject of a hit and run.

UNDERAGE DRINKING: There’s proof tonight the move to stop underage drinking isn’t working. A new national survey shows more young people are drinking larger amounts due to the lower drinking age.

LOVE BUG SPREADS: The computer virus the Love Bug continued to worm its way into New Zealand computers today but there were no reports of any major system failures.

NAKED CHEF: Swooning women and obedient husbands filled an Auckland bookstore to meet celebrity cook “the Naked Chef” at the launch of his latest book.
