THREE MATES FOUND: The bodies of the three young boys and their car was found submerged upside down in a Southland river. The father of one of the boys has questioned why the road did not have warning signs. Meanwhile the farmer that owned the road said the road was private land and the boy’s shouldn’t have been driving there.
FIJI SOLDIERS ISOLATE COMPLEX: Despite yesterday’s shooting Fiji’s soldiers are keeping a heavy presence outside the Parliamentary compound. The military have isolated the compound in a three kilometre military exclusion zone. All supporters of Speight have 48 hours to leave the complex. One of the supporters of George Speight shot yesterday in a gun battle between the groups is in hospital in critical condition.
FIJI PM SPEAKS: Meanwhile the new Fijian Prime Minister says his main aim is to get the economy running again, while constitutional changes will be more changes.
GRANT GILLON CENSURED: There has been a rare move in Parliament, Alliance MP Grant Gillon was censured by the entire house, including his own colleagues, after an obscene joke made in the house yesterday. The censure is the first time in 28 years.
MARK TODD ALLEGATIONS: Olympic Equestrian Mark Todd has refused to deny allegations he took cocaine in an Oxford hotel, despite New Zealand Olympic Committees repeated attempts to contact him about the issue.
CERVICAL CANCER INQUIRY: There still is no official monitoring body to check cervical smear testing nationally, the Cervical Smear Inquiry was told today.
OTAGO SCREENING ERRORS: A investigation into Healthcare Otago breast screening programme has found files of 55 women have errors in them.
