Dairy Payout – Mark Middleton – Sex Charges – Clinton Controversy – IBM Nazi Link – Napster Case – Kournikova Virus

- DAIRY PAYOUT: A bumper payout for dairy farmers is set to put $1 billion into the economy. The money will go to 14,000 dairy farmers, but they won’t be the only ones to benefit. The price for milk solids has been high. Strong demand, flat supply out of Europe, and the exchange rate have benefitted New Zealand dairy farmers.

- MARK MIDDLETON: A legal defence fund is being launched to help Mark Middleton, the man convicted of threatening to kill the murderer of his Stepdaughter, Karla Cardnow. Middleton is likely to spend time in jail. Some are saying the groundswell of support for Middleton, with the fund and protests, could unduly affect the process of sentencing Middleton.

- SEX CHARGES: A Police Constable from a North Island town, Brian Scott, faces sex charges.

- CLINTON CONTROVERSY: Bill Clinton is under growing scrutiny for pardoning financier Mark Rich. Now there is talk of a second impeachment for the former president.

- IBM NAZI LINK: Claims are being made that US computer giant IBM had sinister links with Hitler and the Nazis during the Second World War.

- NAPSTER CASE: Record companies are claiming victory, with an American court ruling saying the music sharing Internet site Napster breaches copyright laws. The court stopped short of immediately ordering Napster to shut down. Napster is vowing to continue.

- KOURNIKOVA VIRUS: The lure of Anna Kournikova is causing havoc on computers worldwide, with a computer virus using the promise of an image of the beautiful tennis player to get computer users to open a virus on their email system. ISP Xtra says it is screening the virus at a rate of 3000 per hour.
