POWER BONUSES: Energy Minister Pete Hodgson wants power retailers to come up with schemes that pay consumers for saving more than the 10 percent target for 10 weeks.

POWER USE: Electricity use was cut by 5.4 percent on Monday – just over half the 10 per cent saving demanded by the Government to avert a power crisis.

PARAGLIDER ACCIDENT: Adventure tourism operators are defending their safety record after 12-year-old girl Nicola Collins was seriously injured after falling out of her paraglider harness.

GOLDEN HANDSHAKE: Rob MacIntyre, boss of Wellington tourism organisation Totally Wellington, has been a golden handshake of up to $100,000 to leave the organisation at ratepayers’ expense.
