- Iroquois - 5 of the Air Force's Iroquois helicopters are to be fitted with replacement rotor blades, after a crack was found in one of them. The crack was spotted on a blade of an Iroquois at Suai, in East Timor. The air force says the type of defect has never been seen before. - Working Party - The Australian and New Zealand governments met today to discuss Air New Zealand's equity crisis. They decided to set up an officials' working party to find a way ahead. - Labels - The warning labels on caffeinated energy drinks like Red Bull and 'V' are to re-worded. The change has been approved by the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Council, and follows growing international concern about Red Bull which has been linked to 3 deaths in Sweden. Until now the cans have carried a warning that the drinks are not suitable for children or people sensitive to caffeine.

- Pie Umphant - 2 and a half years ago Saroun and Eng Lach didn't know what to do with a pie filling. Now their Lower Hutt bakery is credited with making the best pie in the country. The Lachs fought off competition from 273 other bakeries to win the supreme award. As news of the win spread, so did the queues - the lunch crowd looking for a taste of the country's best steak mince and cheese pie.

- New Zealand Premiere - Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson has revealed a hobbit secret. He's confirmed for 3 News that the Ring Trilogy will have its New Zealand premiere at Wellington's Embassy Theatre. It's expected to be in late December, and shortly after the world premiere. But that doesn't give much time for renovators to bring the theatre back to its original, 1920s glory.

- People's Bank - State Owned Enterprises Minister Mark Burton has stormed out of a question session about leaks from the people's bank. A select committee had been quizzing the Minister over the government witch hunt to find the source of the leaks. It started with leaks and ended with fireworks.
