Turning Unsettled This Week
The weather is likely to be unsettled in many northern and western parts of the country from Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, as a warm northerly flow spreads across New Zealand. "Heavy falls are possible on the West Coast of the South Island, in northwest Nelson, and possibly over the part of the North Island extending from Taranaki across to Bay of Plenty," commented MetService's Media and Communications Meteorologist Daniel Corbett.
"But even before the warm northerlies arrive, we're expecting quite a lot of thunderstorm activity today and tomorrow," Corbett went on to say. "Many inland parts of the North Island should see afternoon build-ups today, while tomorrow the action shifts to the South Island West Coast and Otago."
Holidaymakers and travellers will want to keep an eye on the weather as the weather system develops in the next couple of days.
