Queenstown - A hill above 40 Queenstown homes is unstable and may descend over part of the scenic town. Residents have been allowed back into their homes under police escort to collect valuables.

Cluther - The Cluther River has burst its banks and much of the south’s lowlands have been under water. Water levels are now receding.

Fender OK - National Tertiary Minister Max Bradford has been found to be justified in pushing/fending a Canterbury University student to the ground. Mr Bradford will not comment further on the incident.
