CABINET SACKING - latest Tauranga poll - Shipley and Clark on Campaign Trail - Paul Holmes cancer - Jonah Lomu signs for Wellington

DELAMERE SACKED - Immigration Minister Tuariki Delamere has been sacked three days out from the election - he was sacked around 5.30pm by the Prime Minister - Delamere was sacked because he gave instructions that 21 Chinese immigrants should invest $11 million in Maori land or rural land - Delamere says he knew the scheme was risky but was prepared to take the risk.

TAURANGA POLL: Winston Peters faces defeat according to the latest One Network News Colmar-Brunton Poll. He trails National's Katherine O'Regan and Labour's Margaret Wilson. O'Regan is on 30% - Wilson on 29% and Peters is on 27%. The poll has a margin of error of 4.4%.

SHIPLEY AND CLARK: Both leaders spent the day on the campaign trail. Shipley has been on walkabouts and Clark has been visiting schools and talking about mental health.

MINOR PARTIES: Leaders of the minor parties say their campaigns are sparking much more than the major party's and that's why they are going up in the polls.

PAUL HOLMES: Prominent broadcaster Paul Holmes has revealed that he is battling prostate cancer. The 49 year-old television and radio presenter describes the cancer as "very invasive" but says his chances of beating the disease with radiotherapy are very good although he has moments of fear. The cancer was diagnosed six weeks ago but Holmes has vowed that he has faced greater challenges and beaten them. He is appealing to all men not to be afraid to be checked. 500 New Zealand men die of prostate cancer every year.
