Wake Up And Join The EUB Party, Sue!

The Alliance's education spokesperson, Liz Gordon, has today responded to what she calls "scathing attacks by my friend and political ally, Sue Bradford".

"Sue has at last realised that the way to reinstate the emergency unemployment is not through grandstanding, but through negotiation", said Dr. Gordon.

"I have been saying for months that this matter is on the table as part of coalition negotiations for the next budget round.

"Today, Sue has seen the light, putting out a release saying that the Greens are going to ask the government to reinstate the EUB.

"She has finally realised that legislation is not required".

Liz Gordon says that Ms Bradford has subjected the Alliance to an "incomprehensible and vicious series of attacks in recent days.

"Sue needs to realise that, politically, the Alliance is not the enemy. If she wants to slag off other parliamentary parties, she should try ACT or National. She won't win friends by constant attacks on the Alliance, which is the party of a free, high quality, public system of tertiary education"

"If the Greens really do want to see the restoration of the emergency unemployment benefit, they should be supporting the longstanding budget bid of the Alliance, not putting in rival last minute bids of their own."
