Scampi fishery inquiry update:
hearings to commence 10 February 2003 independent advisers appointed
Wellington, New Zealand, 7 January 2003-
The hearings of evidence on the Primary Production Select Committee’s inquiry into the scampi fishery will commence on Monday, 10 February 2003. The Hon David Carter, Chairperson of the committee, said, “We have agreed to set aside every Monday in February 2003 for a full day’s meeting on the inquiry and on every Thursday as well, where other committee business permits, to hear evidence on the inquiry. We expect the inquiry will be the primary focus of our efforts during February. The committee has also decided to have the Ministry of Fisheries be the first submitter to give evidence.”
“The committee
has also appointed independent specialist advisers to help
it with its inquiry, Mr Carter said. “Debra Angus,
Legislative Counsel, Office of the Clerk of the House of
Representatives, Patrick Hoy, Senior Project Officer, Office
of the Controller and Auditor General, and Craig Fisken,
Hall Fisken and Associates, have joined the committee’s
staff for the inquiry.”
