Progressives welcome South Auckland family literacy project
The Manukau Family Literacy Projects launched
today by the Labour Progressive Coalition today are greatly
welcomed by the Progressives says Hon Matt Robson,
Progressive Deputy Leader.
"The Progressives are committed to ensuring all children and adults have access to the educational programs they need to fully develop their potential. Our social and economic development depends on an educated nation. Literacy programs are a key part of this goal.
"The family literacy program is a ground breaking project developed after researching what works best to get our children learning more quickly and more easily, and to help adults gain employment and participate fully in their communities.
"The Progressives support free access to education from early education to adult education and will encourage the extension of programs like this literacy project around the country.
"Children need continuous reinforcement at home and at school of what they have learned. By including parents in the program we are not only helping the children improve at school, but helping the parents and their communities too by increasing their ability to be involved in their communities and improve their employment status," Matt Robson said.
