Quilts for Te Kainga Whaiora Health Camp
Quilts for Te Kainga Whaiora Children's Health Camp
A
visit to the Te Kainga Whaiora Children's Health Camp for
vulnerable children in Gisborne last year made such an
impression on the Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright
that she felt compelled to help. So she invited a group of
Wellington quiltmakers to become involved in a project to
supply the camp with warm quilts.
Now, after months of work, 26 beautiful handmade quilts are ready to be sent to the camp. The colourful quilts will be handed over to Dr Fiona Inkpen, Chief Executive of the NZ Foundation for Child and Family Health Development, at Government House in Wellington tomorrow morning.
The quilts will be handed over during a morning tea at Government House at 10.30am on Tuesday, 22 November 2005. Media wishing to cover the event should contact the Public Affairs Officer to confirm attendance no later than 9.30am on the morning of the event.
