Dunne welcomes tax debate contribution

UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne has welcomed today's contribution to the tax debate by the Business Council for Sustainable Development.

The Council, in preparation for its November 1 Business Budget Summit, has offered three options for changes to personal and business tax, as well as GST.

"UnitedFuture has long advocated the so-called 30/30/30 programme, which would see the top tax rate of 39 percent reduced to 30%, in line with a 30% corporate tax rate and the same rate for trusts," said Mr Dunne.

"This is pretty close to the Council's Option 1, which their own survey says is supported by 25% of New Zealanders.

"UnitedFuture is committed to keeping the debate on the nation's tax structure alive and well and we'll continue to push the Government towards lowering personal taxes in light of the fact that 76% of New Zealanders want tax cuts and there's an election next year," said Mr Dunne.
