PGA President Acknowledges Democracy Progress In Burma

Ross Robertson, Labour MP for Manukau East and Associate Spokesperson for Disarmament (Small Arms and Light Weapons), has today written to congratulate Aung San Suu Kyi on her election to parliament in Burma/Myanmar.

In his capacity as President of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), Ross Robertson said he was honoured and privileged to be able to recognise her efforts in advocating for human rights, peace, democracy, and the rule of law.

“PGA has a particularly active membership base in the Asia Pacific region, which we know will benefit from the wisdom and experience of Aung San Suu Kyi.

“We are confident Aung San Suu Kyi’s leadership will inspire members of our organisation who live in countries facing similar challenges to those in Burma,” Ross Robertson said.
