New Zealand First Mp Gets High Court Hearing Date
New
Zealand First Member of Parliament Andrew Williams has
received confirmation from the Auckland High Court that his
case against the New Zealand First Party has been set down
for Thursday 27 November 2014. Williams’ lawyers Chen
Palmer filed papers on 29 August seeking declarations that
the New Zealand First Party breached its Constitution when
it determined its party list and subsequently removed him as
an electorate and list candidate.
“Recognised as a hard-working, competent New Zealand First MP, ranked at number 3 in the party, spokesperson for 11 portfolios and 3 associate portfolios, I was given no reason for my demotion to 13th place and was subsequently removed from the party list altogether.” says Andrew Williams.
“The manner in which I have been mistreated by the Party has forced me to seek Court declarations that the revocation of my electorate and list candidacies, and my removal from the party list, breached the processes in the party’s Constitution for fair treatment. There are numerous protections in the New Zealand First Constitution to ensure fair treatment, which I have not been accorded.”
“As the matter is now before the Court, I do not intend to make further comment. The papers filed with the Court outline the case against New Zealand First.”
