Taxation (Land and Offshore Persons Information) Bill

Select Committee Office

Taxation (Land Information and Offshore Persons Information) Bill

The chairperson of the Finance and Expenditure Committee is inviting submissions on this bill. The closing date for submissions is Thursday 9 July 2015.

This bill is an omnibus bill intended to improve compliance with the Income Tax Act 2007. It amends the Land Transfer Act 1952 to get better tax information from all people dealing in land. Amendments to the Tax Administration Act 1994 relate to tax enforcement against people dealing in land and promote the enforcement of tax obligations of offshore persons.

A copy of the bill can be purchased at any Bennetts Government Bookshop or viewed online at www.legislation.govt.nz

Submissions should be forwarded by the due date, either online using our website (www.parliament.nz) or in writing to the address below.

Those who wish to appear before the committee need to state this clearly and provide a name, daytime phone number and email address.

It is likely that the committee will be hearing oral submissions in the week beginning 13 July 2015, so it would be helpful if submitters who wish to appear before the committee could contact the committee secretariat as soon as possible on telephone 04 817 9508 or 04 817 9560.

Submissions generally become public and are published on our website. For further guidance on making a submission, read our publication Making a submission to a Parliamentary Select Committee on our website or contact us at 04 817 9508.

Address for correspondence: Finance and Expenditure Committee, Parliament Buildings, WELLINGTON 6160.
