Dunne Visit "A Chance To Listen And Learn"

DUNNE VISIT “A CHANCE TO LISTEN AND LEARN”

United New Zealand leader, Hon Peter Dunne, says his visit to the West Coast on Thursday 16 September will be “a chance to listen and learn.”

He says this will be in marked contrast to Labour Deputy Leader Michael Cullen’s recent visit.

“Dr Cullen came to lecture Coasters about what was good for them, and got the inevitable result.”

“My visit will be a chance for me to learn first hand about the West Coast’s employment needs and how sustainable forestry can contribute to those,” he says.

Mr Dunne says the debacle over Labour’s policy announcement shows what happens when Parties take their support base for granted, and think they know best.

“It is an appalling way to reward almost 80 years of loyalty to the Labour cause,” he says.

Mr Dunne says many West Coasters will now be properly feeling disenfranchised for this coming election.

“They have been betrayed by Labour and the Alliance; yet, will be unable to bring themselves to vote for National, or its extremist partner, ACT.”

“The logging issue highlights the need for a sensible moderator in Parliament, able to temper extremist policies, and make genuine progress.”

“United New Zealand is that moderator, and I will therefore be urging West Coasters to give us their Party vote this election, both to secure their own future, and to ensure the next Government follows sensible policies from which they will benefit,” he says.
