UNITED NEW ZEALAND UNIQUELY PLACED FOR ELECTION
United New Zealand is uniquely positioned to succeed at the coming General Election, according to leader and Ohariu Belmont MP, Hon Peter Dunne.
Speaking after a Party organisation meeting in Auckland at the weekend, Mr Dunne said the watershed nature of the November 27 election, the country’s second under MMP, after three years of unprecedented political turmoil, would suit his Party well.
“New Zealanders are feeling more uncertain than ever about their future – fearing either a Labour/Alliance coalition pulled sharply to the left; a National/ACT coalition veering further to the right; or, the erratic and flaky New Zealand First again holding the balance of power.”
“Any of these outcomes is potentially disastrous and misses the point of public concern about where New Zealand is heading today.”
“Above all, at the present time, New Zealanders crave stability and certainty, so that they can get on with their lives with confidence, rather than face either turning the clock back or more erratic populist politics.”
“United is in an unparalleled position to provide the stability, balance and certainty the next Government will need to hold the confidence of New Zealanders.”
“Moreover, as the only Party to unashamedly embrace and seek to lead our burgeoning multicultural future we are more in tune than any other serious Party with where our country is headed.”
“The combination of a Party of liberal principle, untarnished by scandal, committed to moderation, reason and good sense, and representing the future face of our nation should prove irresistible to sufficient numbers of mainstream New Zealanders to ensure we retain effective representation in Parliament,” Mr Dunne said.
