Libz - Annette King Admits the Passive Smoking Lie
Minister of Health Annette King informs Evening Post reporter Barry Hawkins that "we know passive smoking kills people.” Yet she then admits there is ‘very little evidence’ that it is really a risk factor. “So the media demonises the tobacco industry for lying, while the do-gooder zealots themselves tell porkies. Unbelievable!” explodes Joy Faulkner, founder of Smokers of the Word Unite, and Libertarianz Tobacco Deregulation Spokesman. “Or are there good lies and bad lies?” she wonders.
In the wake of a wide ranging WHO study which finds no link between passive smoking and lung cancer incidence, King admits the science is ‘weak’, that passive smoking ‘doesn’t really cause lung cancer and heart disease’ - yet says that smoking bans will remain it because smoking is an ‘annoyance’!
“Jesus wept!” cries Faulkner. “What else annoys this woman? Perhaps she should ban children from restaurants, because they certainly annoy the hell out of me. Or how about alcohol from bars and restaurants for we non-drinkers who get annoyed at the noise and the foul language, and the drunks on the road.”
“As the victim of a gang rape by 3 drunken youths, I will be glad to hear she is banning alcohol, because that annoyed the hell out of me. So did my first husband who beat me on a nightly basis after drinking binges at the bar. Thank you Annette.”
“What about the annoyance of being stuck in traffic behind a Pajero, or a bus belching out black soot, not to mention the trucks and vans belching diesel fumes. Or what about those tele-marketers who ring you just as you dinner is ready? Perhaps Annette will also get around to banning these annoyances.”
“Holy smoke! She is annoyed that people call her a nazi – maybe she will ban those of us who recognise the similarity of this campaign to that other forceful anti-smoking campaign conducted by the Third Reich.”
“I have a message for the annoying Annette,” says Faulkner: “Sod off and get a life of your own!”
