A further attack on the sanctity of human life
PRESS RELEASE
The Euthanasia bill promoted by Peter
Brown, a New Zealand First MP represents a further attack on
the sanctity of human life.
We believe this MP, though well intentioned, is playing into the hands of the right to die agenda. This means the right to die even for children- something which former MP Michael Laws was happy with but most of the NZ public were not.
Euthanasia is all about doctors killing patients or assisting in their suicide. It would be unwise and a dangerous policy to legislate for Euthanasia.
It is crucial to understand that there is no law or medical group, church or anti-euthanasia organisation which insists on unnecessary or burdensome meaurs to keep a dying person alive.
The Dutch experience shows that so-called "voluntary euthanasia" is a slippery slope with the right to die soon paving the way for a duty to die as doctors take the lives of unwanted patients without their knowledge or consent.
This Society supports the NZ medical Association in opposing this dangerous bill.
