A Promise Kept

8 November 2000
A PROMISE KEPT

“Re-establishment of a Government export credit guarantee scheme represents another tangible and practical form of assistance for export growth,” said Simon Carlaw, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Manufacturers Federation. He was commenting on today’s announcement by the Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hon Pete Hodgson.

“While the scheme is limited in scope, on this occasion the Government appears to have also grasped its significance as a signal to existing and potential exporters of the importance it places on accelerating export growth.

“This contrasts quite starkly with the approach on R & D expensing where protection of the revenue appears to have triumphed over the transition to higher value added production and a knowledge society”.
